Forest Tales

The Guardian

Some more finished pieces!  They were both done in acrylic paint on large pieces of wood I scavenged from the woodshop on campus.  I just love painting on wood, each surface has its own unique quality that seems to speak to me as I paint, as if it has its own story to tell from its youth when it was a tree.

Her Memories

Watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil on illustration board, 20 x 30" each
Photos of this series have been drifting about my computer waiting to be shared since last week, but school and a rainy Greyhound journey home stopped me from posting them earlier.  These pieces have been my life lately, it feels weird to be done with them but also very good.  I hope you enjoy them.

Coyote and Rabbit

I've never been so happy to be surrounded by dead animals.  Some friends and I made a trip down to the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History today to draw.  It's a small place, but cozy, and they have lots and lots of animals on display.  There weren't a lot of people visiting, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves.  The woman at the front desk was even kind enough to offer us chairs!

Forest Wanderings

Acrylic on canvas panel, 14"x18"

More landscape painting!  Until this week the weather's been so warm, it's been like a mini summer.  Of course I had to sit and paint outside some more.  This is the lovely view just outside my window.  Now that it's rainy winter again I guess I'll finally have to stay indoors and work on finishing the pieces impatiently waiting by my desk.
