Still No Luck For the Frog Prince

The Frog Prince original art illustration by Veronica Kosowski

Despite the Princess's best efforts to dissuade her father, the King commanded the Princess to keep her word to the Frog and let him stay with her in the palace.  Even so, she determined to have as little to do with the Frog as possible.

Happy Monday everyone!  As promised, here's the second Frog Prince illustration.

The Frog Prince

The Frog Prince digital painting by Veronica Kosowski

"I can help you Princess, but what will you give me in return?"  the Frog asked.

"Anything, dear Frog, anything you wish," the Princess replied with a bat of her eyes.  "Anything at all."

"Will you promise to love me, to let me be your companion, sit with you at your table, eat from your plate, drink from your cup and sleep on your pillow?"

"Yes, I promise!"

The frog retrieved the golden ball from the pool and came back to the Princess.  "I have done as you asked.  Take me with you to your castle."

But the Princess snatched her golden ball and skipped away laughing.  "Silly Frog!  How could a Princess ever spend time with an ugly little wretch like you?"

Aw, poor guy!  I always felt sorry for the Frog Prince, the Princess is such a brat.

I'm definitely planning to color my other Frog Prince drawing from Inktober soon.  I think I'll be doing more illustrations from this story in the future as well for fun.

Here are the original two drawings:

The Ice Maiden

The Ice Maiden painting by Veronica Kosowski
"Once a beautiful boy was stolen from me by man - a boy whom I had kissed but had not kissed to death.  He is again among mankind, and tends the goats on the mountains.  He is always climbing higher and higher, far away from all the others, but not from me.  He is mine; I will send for him."

-from "The Ice Maiden" by Hans Christian Andersen

Finished the Ice Maiden painting featuring Rudy's village (he's the main character who the Ice Maiden refers to in the above quote) and the Ice Maiden who rules over the mountains beyond.  It's now available in my Etsy shop!

Meditative Sharpie Drawing

sharpie drawing by Veronica Kosowski
Drew this during an art workshop at work yesterday.  I think it'd make a cool locket or tattoo design!

Selkie Sketch

Selkie sketch by Veronica Kosowski

Another pencil sketch, this time of a selkie woman peeking out from the corner of my sketchbook.

The selkie’s story is a sad one.  She generally finds herself robbed of her magical seal skin and trapped in human form by a man who thinks beauty and desire justifiable reasons to compromise the freedom of a woman.
The selkie often lives many years with her captor, becoming a wife and mother while still searching for the skin that will enable her transformation and return to the sea.  In some stories she finds it herself, while in others she has to wait many years until one of her children finds it by chance.  Either way, as soon as it’s in her grasp nothing can keep her from finally going home.
In some stories her children see a seal with tear-filled eyes looking out at them from the water every time they play in the waves, but she never again returns to them or her captive life on land.

Happy New Year!

Fox Sketch by Veronica Kosowski

Happy New Year everyone!  2014 was a good year, and I'm hoping to make 2015 even better!  I've got lots of exciting art projects in the works that I'm looking forward to sharing with you as they progress.

In the meantime, here's a quick fox sketch (and yes, I did finish the old sketchbook before the New Year.  Level up!)
