Hi friends!  It's been a while, but I've got a very good reason as to why.  I had the awesome opportunity to go to CTN expo a couple weeks back!  (Warning: overuse of exclamation marks is imminent.)

For those not familiar with the convention you can find more information about it here.  Basically it's an animation expo/ networking event where a ton of super awesome artists from the industry gather to show their work, give lectures and workshops, and give advice to young hopefuls looking to break in (that's me!).

This was my first year going, so I was a little nervous at first.  I'd heard such great things about it from Chris Oatley and my friends at Oatley Academy, so I knew this year I wanted to take the plunge and experience it myself.  I'm happy to say it was one of the best moments of my life!

Everyone was so warm and kind, and I met so many amazing artists both who I knew previously from online and who I just met at the expo.  I got so many great portfolio reviews from artists who were kind enough to take the time to look over my work.  The mind-blowing feedback I got from all of them has given me an even better direction for my art and tons of stuff to work on in the upcoming months.  I'm immensely grateful, humbled, and insanely inspired all at the same time!

I'll definitely be going to CTN again next year, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's even remotely interested in making a career in the arts.  If you've got any questions for me about CTN feel free to comment or shoot me an email!  I'll be happy to respond.  :)

In other news, here's two new pages of drawings for Magpie and the Mask Maker.  I've been working on revamping the Mask Maker's design to reflect his magical role in the story.  I'm also really happy with how the top drawing of the Mask Maker and a tree spirit turned out.  Can't wait to take it to color!

CTN has inspired me to work even harder than before on finishing this project and finally getting it out there.  I feel like I've already got a jumpstart on 2016, and I'm really excited for what next year will bring!

  1. That sounds like a great time! So glad you got to go :)

  2. I love how expressive your characters are in these new pages. :)

    1. Thanks Victoria! So glad to hear you say that, I've been working really hard to put more expression and movement in my pieces, glad it comes across. :)
